Closed Loop Compliance
DESIGN RESEARCH, DESIGN STRATEGY, CREATIVE FACILITATION
How might we revolutionize the end to end user experience of Operations Compliance?
Closed Loop Compliance is a vision to create an integrated solution that covers the entire lifecycle of a regulatory requirement from discovery, monitoring, and translation of requirements, to defining a compliance plan, executing that plan, and measuring end to end impact. I facilitated the creation of a comprehensive 5-year strategic vision, introducing a generative-AI-supported product, and advocating for the consolidation of 6+ tools into a streamlined, user-centric experience. The Gen-AI product uses keyword searches, document inputs, and URL inputs to identify and summarize relevant regulations, providing recommendations based on user-defined criteria. I led the usability testing for 8 workflows, 68 pages, that resulted in 75 insights. The project promises significant financial benefits, including $3.58M in savings from reduced third-party services, $0.18M in internal efficiencies, and potential $34.72M in risk mitigation.

We brought together product managers, development engineers, and key stakeholders from the various businesses to align on the strategic vision, the user experience across products, and to map the 5 year roadmap. One of the participants said of the workshop: "This felt like a month’s worth of work that we accomplished in 2 days.”

Prior to the workshop we conducted 23 interviews with 5 different end user groups to understand the existing experience and pain points. We then brought those synthesized insights into the workshop to help align teams and tell the true story of the user’s needs. This created the foundation to think big and ideate on a meaningful, desired future state.

Object Oriented User Experience (OOUX) is a design methodology that structures digital systems around objects users naturally interact with, mirroring how people intuitively understand their environment. Using an Enter-Engage-Exit-Extend framework, the team developed workflow steps and identified necessary objects for each phase, creating a user-centric experience that aligns with development practices. This enabled rapid prototyping and iteration to get to high fidelity prototypes faster.
